Video: Watch Rick DiPietro's latest injury scare for NY Islanders

The New York Islanders' season of devastating injuries (Mark Streit, Kyle Okposo) nearly reached a new level of absurd irony on Monday night, when goalie Rick DiPietro left their game with the Calgary Flames -- two days after the Isles traded workhorse veteran goalie Dwayne Roloson to the Tampa Bay Lightning.

The ever-fragile DiPietro appeared to suffer an injury on this save in the second period:

Nathan Lawson entered the game 5:40 into the second period for DiPietro, who left for the dressing room.

While Islanders fans were busy wondering how quickly their team would snatch Flyers goalie Michael Leighton off the waiver wire, the incredible happened: Good injury news regarding Rick DiPietro.

Newsday's Katie Strang reported via Twitter that "Rick DiPietro has an adductor strain and left the game for precautionary reasons." What is the adductor? Thanks, Wikipedia.

So the adductor is not a knee nor a groin (Ed. Note: It kinda is), and a strain is not a tear. Aaaaand exhale, Islanders Nation. Well, at least until the next injury scare.
