NLDS Game 1: Brewers strike first, down Diamondbacks 4-1

NLDS Game 1: Brewers strike first, down Diamondbacks 4-1

Score and situation: The Milwaukee Brewers beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 4-1 in Saturday's Game 1 of the NLDS at Miller Park. The Brewers lead the series 1-0.

Leading lads: Three of Milwaukee's marquee names kicked off what's expected to be a headline weekend in Wisconsin sports. Prince Fielder went 2-for-4 with a homer and three RBI, Ryan Braun went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and starting pitcher Yovani Gallardo struck out nine and allowed only one run over eight innings of work.

Your move, Badgers and Packers.

NLDS Game 1: Brewers strike first, down Diamondbacks 4-1Head hanger: Arizona's Kirk Gibson made a few questionable non-moves in his managerial playoff debut, the biggest being a refusal to walk Fielder with first base open and two outs in the seventh. Prince made Gibby pay, stroking a two-run homer off Ian Kennedy to right and giving Milwaukee a four-run lead.

Key play: Fielder's home run was big, but it was his at-bat in the fourth that really got the Brewers going. With an infield shift on, Fielder managed to hit a double down the left field line. The hit moved Braun to third and he later scored the Brewers' first run on a sacrifice fly by Jerry Hairston.

Interesting stat: The last four NL Central champions had been 0-12 in their last 12 playoff games. Milwaukee's win was the first of its kind since the St. Louis Cardinals clinched the 2006 World Series over the Tigers.

What they'll be talking about: After Saturday's win, the Miller Park advantage discussion isn't going anywhere. Especially not since the Brewers will start Zack Greinke in Game 2 ? he went 11-0 with a 3.13 ERA at home this season.

What's next: Sunday's Game 2 is scheduled for 5:07 ET. Greinke is expected to face Daniel Hudson.
