Of all the Whitney Houston-related tweets that cascaded down my Twitter feed on Saturday night, there were a few from Jim Bowden that stood out from all the others.
The former Washington Nationals GM/current ESPN pundit said he was at the Beverly Hills Hilton "mourning the death of legend Whitney Houston with so many of her friends." But any of our initial thoughts that Bowden was one of the morbid lookie-loos who descended upon the scene of Houston's death would prove incorrect: Bowden was apparently in Los Angeles to attend many of the festivities associated with the Grammys, including Clive Davis' preshow party at the hotel.
Stranger still, Bowden not only had a story of meeting the passed pop princess near a pool, but also a picture (above) to prove it.
I felt very fortunate to have met Whitney Houston & will never forget her singing to Joy & I at the pool at Mandarin O in Miami may she RIP"
And if that's not the ultimate case of "small world," I have no idea what is.
Pitchers and catchers report this week, so don't miss a beat ...
