The 7 best 2012 NHL All-Star player campaign videos

The 7 best 2012 NHL All-Star player campaign videos

The Seven is an arbitrary list of randomly connected hockey subjects that will run every Thursday on Puck Daddy. Agree to disagree.

When the NHL opens it's voting for the All-Star Game every year, so to opens the marketing campaigns by individual teams encouraging their fanbase to vote their boys into the mid-season classic.

Fan voting has gone on for the All-Star Game since 1986 and since then, the end results have always been debated. With teams starting their own campaigns to get their guys into one of the two lineups, the complaining will continue.

We're peered through some of the individual team and fan campaign videos for next months All-Star Game in Ottawa and picked out our favorites.

Here are the 7 best 2012 NHL All-Star Player Campaigns ...

7. Mark Streit, John Tavares, Michael Grabner - New York Islanders

The soundtrack reminds us of the end of "Inception" when the van takes about 25 minutes to plunge into the river which, oddly enough, was the way the Islanders' season was heading up until last week.

6. Martin St. Louis, Vincent Lecavalier, Steven Stamkos - Tampa Bay Lightning

"Most of us here were born in America. We take this country for granted. But not hockey players like Vincent Lecavalier, Martin St. Louis and Steven Stamkos. While the rest of us are drinking ourself stupid, they're scoring the goals that help the Lightning win. They're making the plays that entertain us every night. They're helping to train our future Lightning and taking hits in the process. These people are the glue that hold together our team. If we don't pass Propositions 4, 26 and 91, we'll be losing some of the truest Lightning of all. When you go to the polls, please vote "yes" on Propositions 4, 26, 91."

5. Aaron Rome - Vancouver Canucks

From the fan's video description: "Aaron Rome has deserved every bit to play in the NHL All-Star Game. Now it's time to see him and have fun watching him play with the pros."

Is that an indirect shot at the Canucks?

4. Phil Kessel - Toronto Maple Leafs

The Maple Leafs really, really know how to gear their campaign towards the fanbase.

3. Jimmy Howard - Detroit Red Wings

One of the many holes in the NHL's ballot when voting opened was the absence of Howard on the list of goaltenders. At the time the ballot was released, and still today, Howard remains in the Vezina Trophy conversation leading all goaltenders in wins with 15. Detroit radio station WRIF has taken it upon themselves to spread the word to "Vote for Jimmy". Any other nominees have an RV designed in their honor?

2. Dion Phaneuf - Toronto Maple Leafs

One way to rile up Leafs fans is by showing Phaneuf plowing through an Ottawa Senator on a loop. Tip o'the cap to you, Maple Leafs.

1. Carey Price - Montreal Canadiens

This campaign, head and shoulders above the rest, is based off the French filmBrice de Nice. We're really more interested in seeing Price randomly karate chop stuff.
