Video: Bengals? Jerome Simpson pulls off the TD flip of the decade

As announcer Thom Brennaman said, "It's one thing to flip over a guy ? it's another thing to land on your feet!"

Cincinnati Bengals receiver Jerome Simpson knows of what Mr. Brennaman speaks. With 2:46 left in the first half of Cincy's game against the Arizona Cardinals, Simpson ran a crossing route from right to left, caught a sideline pass from quarterback Andy Dalton, and ? well, this happened.

Simpson flipped over Cards linebacker Daryl Washington, and landed on his feet. It was the most impressive touchdown dnouement we've seen in a very long time, though we hear that the French judge only gave Simpson a 6.0, and the IOC may have to investigate.

In all seriousness, we shouldn't be surprised that Simpson can do this. At Coastal Carolina, Simpson was a member of the 2006 Big South Conference Men's Outdoor Track and Field Championship squad, and he earned All-Big South honors. He also set a new school record in the high jump with a leap of 2.05 meters (which he may have broken on Sunday's touchdown).

Qualifying for the 2007 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, Simpson was also on the school record 4x400-meter relay squad that set the new mark at the Big South Championships.

Put all that together, and it's about half of the recognition Simpson will get for this catch. Oh, and aquicknote to Ray Anderson and Merton Hanks at the NFL's head offices: You can't fine Simpson for an illegal end zone celebration, because the jump started at the two-yard line!
