Ah, nothing says it's spring more than an eagle-eyed fan spotting Topps getting its airbrush on. And this year, it's Nationals Inquisition noticing that the Jayson Werth card they received in a team pack at a Washington Nationals game looked a wee bit familiar.
Nats NQ has listed the telltale signs between the existing Topps #325 card in this year's set and the card they inserted into Nats team sets on the blog, so go check it out.
But while a diehard fan can get worked up over the absence of red piping on a jersey top or an opposing player sitting in the dugout while also wearing home whites, the truth is that photoshopping is a necessary evil in an industry dedicated to documenting baseball's forever-changing rosters. Plus, their airbrush wizards do a much better job of alterations than I ever would.
