Video: The coldest seats at the NHL Heritage Classic in Calgary

CALGARY, Alberta - When the puck dropped on the 2011 NHL Heritage Classic, one side of McMahon Stadium was drenched in sunlight while the other was covered in shadow. It was pretty damn cold in the shadows, as it was minus-8.6 degrees C at game time.

If you were in the top rows of the farthest section of the upper deck, then wind became a factor, too. So we ventured up to the top of Section X to talk to some fans who braved the elements, dressed in layers and added a little something to their beverages while watching the Calgary Flames battle the Montreal Canadiens:

Why yes, that was a frog playing the Indiana Jones theme, why do you ask?

We shot this near the start of the second period before venturing down to the concourse ... where it was like Thunderdome. The beer lines were long; the lines for the men's room were three times longer than that. Moving around was near impossible, but everyone was either too cold or too numb (for various reasons) to care.

The vibe inside the stadium was a positive and festive one, and it's been like that around here all day.
