Jeopardy! player nails obvious Denard Robinson trivia for $200

Answer: Why is this news?! Question: What is the most common reaction by Y! Sports readers to posts on offbeat and/or feature-y subjects, such as (for example) high schoolers allegedly copying Michigan quarterback Denard "Shoelace" Robinson's habitual misuse of a certain item of clothing. The charge of un-newsworthiness is so frequent across all the Y! blogs, golf and NASCAR-obsessed colleague Jay Busbee named a podcast after it.

Today's reply to the haters? Because the trivial details could conceivably be worth $200 on America's favorite syndicated quiz show:

Maybe Kate's a serious Big Ten football fan, or maybe she just correctly deduced the only possible answer to a clue involving things an athlete might tie (or not tie, as the case may be) a nanosecond ahead of her furiously clicking opponent, Nikhil. Either way, starring in a Jeopardy! question – even the easiest Jeopardy! question ever – instantly confers broader cultural relevancy than any All-America team. And Jeopardy! actually got his position right. We told you, this kid's a star.
