In addition to being an NBA champion and a tireless advocate for mental health awareness, Ron Artest presides over a fledgling music empire at Tru Warier Records. He has a long way to go to reach success, but Artest is very clearly committed to the venture.
Last night, Artest, George Lopez, Fat Joe, B-Real of Cypress Hill, and many others performed their new single "Go Loco" on "Lopez Tonight." It was without doubt the apex of Artest's music career to date, with an adoring crowd, a host of notable performers on hand, and a general sense of excitement from everyone involved. You can watch it above, so long as you can handle the intensity.
Artest deserves a ton of credit for putting this song together, but we must be honest and point out that this entire performance is ridiculous. Lopez wears sunglasses, a chain, a bandanna under a top hat, and a t-shirt that reads "I Didn't Ask to B A Mexican, I Just Got Lucky." Artest jumps out from the crowd only to find that his voice is mostly inaudible due to a poor mix, yet clearly looks beyond ecstatic to be there. B-Real is involved. The list goes on.
Whatever the case, congrats to Ron-Ron on what is surely a great moment for his career. Even the most successful musicians wait years to perform on a nationally broadcast talk show, and that's a notable feat regardless of the fact that the host performs on the track in question.
Enjoy "Go Loco," which is available right now on iTunes. Don't rush over there all at once.
