Anquan Boldin missed the last two games of the Ravens regular season after having surgery to fix torn cartilage in his knee. The Ravens wrapped up the two-seed without him, giving him another week to rest, and now Boldin is ready to go for Sunday's game against Houston.
Of course he is.
I'll take any opportunity I can get to retell the tale of what Boldin did in 2008, because it's kind of gross, kind of inspiring and all the way awesome. If that didn't keep Boldin out for an extended period of time, some pansy little knee surgery certainly won't.
On a meaningless play late in a game they were losing big, Boldin attempted to make a catch in the end zone. Instead, he took a nasty helmet-to-helmet hit that, quite literally, broke his face. His paranasal sinuses were shattered, and doctors had to go in and rearrange his face surgically.
Boldin went through all of this while refusing painkillers, and in two weeks, was back on the field with no special protective equipment. Anquan Boldin may have some kind of superhuman pain tolerance.
Boldin is listed on the injury report as "probable," but coach John Harbaugh says he's been practicing at 100 percent.� Good news for Joe Flacco and the Ravens.
