It's good to be John Smoltz ? though perhaps maybe not as much as it used to be.
The former Atlanta Braves pitcher has posted his Milton, Ga., mansion on the market for $7.2 million and it's the type of place you'd have to drag me kicking and screaming from.Honestly, I post a lot of these real estate-type items and it's easy to get jaded. But I'm also pretty sure that we've never written about an 18,000 square-foot house located on a property that likely features better sporting facilities ? a golf course! a football field! ? than your local municipality. Where do I sign up for a tour?
From Realtor.com:
The Smoltz estate is, at the very least, a sportsman's dream. Set on nearly 20-acres of land, the property comes complete with separate tennis and basketball courts, separate baseball and football fields, a stocked fishing pond with an oxygenation system, jogging trail and an 18-hole golf course. The 18,265-square-foot mansion includes a total of 10 bedrooms and 12 bathrooms, and features exposed beams, cathedral-style vaulted ceilings, marble and hardwood flooring and a lavish two-level grand foyer. Inside, the home includes a wealth of amenities highlighted by a movie theater with adjacent concession stand, home gym, outdoor kitchen and lounge area with a wet bar.
Maybe Smoltz has already moved on and found something better, but I'm not sure I'm going to be able to do that. With several inches of snow falling on me here in the Midwest, I've been mentally blogging from that poolside area since I've seen the listing.

Unfortunately, the mortgage for that 10-bedroom mansion is a little out of my price range ? my monthly payment would be an estimated $32,890 ? so my dreams of pausing the day to play a quick 18 with Smoltz and his pal Tiger Woods will have to remain just that.
Realtor.com has 24 more photos, though, if you'd like to join me in wishing that our baseball talents would have taken us as far as they did Smoltz.
