UPDATE: After some digging by Pro Football Talk, the ProCamps people have acknowledged that the mistake was theirs entirely, and that the story about Adrian Peterson missing the event because of the Top 100 players thing was just not true.
Here's a snippet of their statement:
ProCamps Worldwide would like to correct its previous statement regarding this week's Adrian Peterson Camp in Norman, Oklahoma as well as take full responsibility for the scheduling mishap with this event.� We erroneously stated that Adrian's inability to attend the camp results from his involvement with the NFL Network's Top 100 Players of 2011.� In fact, he will be visiting the NFL Network on July 3, 2011.� ProCamps has appreciated the opportunity to assist Adrian with his football camp the past three years and due to a breakdown in communication on our end, the camp was scheduled at a time that prevented Adrian from being able to attend.
They're also now offering refunds.

What's keeping Peterson away? The NFL Network's Top 100 program. Here's the official statement from the camp's website.
PLEASE NOTE! Adrian Peterson is being featured on the NFL Top 100 program and will not be able to attend this week's camp. Although we are saddened to hear that he won't be able to attend his camp, we congratulate Adrian on the honor. Since we learned the news, ProCamps has been working around the clock to maintain a program that still provides a first-class experience to all campers and allows interaction with various Sooner stars. All-time Sooner greats Mark Clayton, DeMarco Murray and Jason White will serve as special guest hosts at camp.
Peterson is a good guy and a grown man. He's entitled to make his own choice here. Only he knows how much this particular honor and its accompanying media appearance means to him (the NFL Network has been revealing their "Top 100 Players of 2011," as voted on by current NFL players, in a series of one-hour shows). If it's worth it to Peterson to miss the camp that bears his name, that's up to him.
Still, you'd understand how some of the boys and girls aged 7-14 might be disappointed. No disrespect to Mark Clayton, DeMarco Murray or Jason White, but Peterson's the big draw here. There's a reason it's called the Adrian Peterson Football Camp and not the DeMarco Murray Football Camp, just as there's a reason that the NFL Network wants Adrian Peterson for its TV show and not Jason White.
Hopefully, there's still something that can be worked out that keeps Peterson, the NFL Network and the campers happy.
