Texans beat Jaguars; Leinart?s season is in doubt

After starting his first NFL game in two years and beginning 11 of 13 for 57 yards and a touchdown against the Jacksonville Jaguars, Houston Texans quarterback Matt Leinart suffered a left (throwing) shoulder injury and was ruled out for the rest of the game. Leinart was hit by Jaguars defensive end Jeremy Mincey, who put his full weight on Leinart as the two players went to the turf with 1:45 left in the first half.

After the game, Leinart told reporters that the injury was to his left collarbone, and that the rest of his season was in doubt.

Rookie T.J. Yates came in and struggled at the start, though he did lead the Texans on two field goal drives in Houston's 20-13 win. Both quarterbacks are essentially replacing starter Matt Schaub, who is out for the season with a foot injury.

Leinart also had a rough beginning, though it wasn't his fault -- running back Arian Foster fumbled to end Houston's first drive, and JaguarsDB Ashton Youboty returned the fumble for a 38-yard touchdown.

The 10th overall selection on the 2006 NFL Draft by the Arizona Cardinals, Leinart struggled through his first few seasons and landed on the bench in Houston in what was thought to be a more favorable situation for him. When Schaub went down before the Texans' recent bye, many believed that Leinart could step in and succeed (at least relatively) because of Houston's dynamic running game and vastly improved defense.

Jacksonville had its own quarterback issues -- rookie starter Blaine Gabbert was pulled from the game in favor of veteranLuke McCown after going 13 of 29 for 136 yards and an interception.
